One Beach Closed to Swimming; Two Beaches in Warwick Re-Open to Swimming

-

WASHINGTON, D.C. – September 3, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — The Department of Health recommends the closure of Sandy Point Beach in Portsmouth to swimming due to high bacteria counts. Officials will continue to monitor the water quality and recommend re-opening when the areas are safe for swimming. Water quality analysis is conducted by the State Health Laboratory or a state certified laboratory.

The following beaches are now open to swimming: Conimicut Point Beach in Warwick and Oakland Beach in Warwick. This recommendation is based on results from water samples that show bacteria levels within acceptable limits. The Department of Health will continue to monitor the water quality regularly to assure safe bathing throughout the summer season.

The following licensed beaches remain closed to swimming: Atlantic Beach Club in Middletown and Easton’s Beach in Newport.
