Raimondo Announces Municipal LED Streetlight Energy Efficiency Incentives

Governor Gina M. Raimondo today announced the availability of $525,000 in financial incentives for qualified municipalities seeking to reduce their energy consumption and costs through the installation of light-emitting diode (LED) streetlights and control technologies.

Sen. Whitehouse Applauds U.S. Commitment for Greenhouse Gas Reductions

Today the Obama Administration announced the United States’ commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions as part of the global effort to tackle climate change.  The commitment comes in advance of the U.N. Climate Change Conference in Paris in December, where countries from around the world will attempt to forge a new international climate agreement.  U.S. Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) released the statement below regarding the U.S. commitment:

Reed Seeks to Stoke RI Job Growth and Renewable Energy

NORTH KINGSTOWN, RI - March 4, 2013 - (RealEstateRama) -- In an effort to create jobs in Rhode Island and strengthen America’s energy independence, U.S. Senator Jack Reed (D-RI) and a bipartisan group of U.S. Senators and U.S. Representatives are introducing legislation to provide financial incentives for the investment and production of offshore wind energy. The Incentivizing Offshore Wind Power Act would create an investment tax credit for the first 3,000 megawatts of offshore wind facilities placed into service, which is an estimated 600 wind turbines.
