WARWICK, RI — March 26, 2010 – (RealEstateRama) — Congressman Jim Langevin, in conjunction with Rhode Island Housing, will host a Foreclosure Counseling Workshop at the Community College of Rhode Island Liston Campus on Saturday, March 27. This free, public workshop is an opportunity for homeowners who are having trouble paying their mortgage, as well as renters at risk of losing their apartments, to meet with representatives from the Rhode Island Housing Help Center.“This workshop is a chance for homeowners and renters to speak directly with counselors about how to possibly avoid foreclosure,” said Langevin. “While we won’t necessarily be able to fix problems on the spot, housing counselors will be able to assess individual situations and offer advice that could put a homeowner on the right track.”
“We’re here to help,” said Richard Godfrey, Executive Director of Rhode Island Housing. “Our HelpCenter counselors work every day with Rhode Islanders who are trying to avoid foreclosure. Thanks to the support of Congressman Langevin and our counseling partners, the upcoming workshop will provide more help for Rhode Islanders in crisis. We will assess individual situations and provide free counseling, resources and support to help them safely afford to keep their home, or find a new home that meets their needs and fits their budget.”
Homeowners who are in danger of foreclosure or renters who are facing eviction due to a foreclosure are welcome to attend this free event. Attendees are also encouraged to bring all relevant mortgage and financial paperwork to facilitate a more thorough and efficient evaluation process.
