Residential Properties Helps Brighten Holiday Season

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – January 10, 2012 – (RealEstateRama) — In an effort to assist those in need during the holiday season, Residential Properties Ltd. and its five Rhode Island offices recently made generous contributions to charitable organizations such as Adopt-A-Family, Inc., Crossroads Rhode Island, The Jonnycake Center of Peacedale, Rhode Island Family Services, The Salvation Army, TAPIN, and the Women’s Resource Center of Newport & Bristol Counties. The RPL offices of Barrington, Cumberland, East Greenwich, Narragansett, and Providence each took it upon themselves to organize their donation efforts while embracing the true spirit of the season.

“It always gives us great pleasure to do this at the holidays,” exclaims Broker Associate Sandy Conca, who helped organize the Providence office’s efforts. Echoing that sentiment was Barrington Sales Associate Joan Crocker who reminded us that, “One small offer of kindness can help so many.”

The members of the Cumberland branch made large contributions of their time, effort, and funds to Adopt-A-Family, Inc. of Woonsocket. Sales associates Sandy Soares and Janice Geddes are both on the board of directors for the organization and helped spearhead the effort. Soares serves as the Executive Director for Adopt-A-Family, Inc. which collected roughly 4,000 bags of gifts and 500 bicycles from donors across the country in just one week’s time. These donations helped provide presents to over 1,000 families and nearly 2,100 children this year.

The Barrington office participated in several charitable efforts this past month. To start, they provided canned goods as well as donation of hundreds of dollars to the local organization TAPIN (Touch A Person In Need). They also sponsored a pair of families as part of the Women’s Resource Center of Newport & Bristol Counties’ Adopt-A-Family program, helping to meet the holiday needs of victims of domestic violence and their children. In addition to their local efforts, the office also reached out overseas by assembling gift bags and supplies to send to U.S. troops in Afghanistan.

As they have done for many years, the staff at the Providence office participated in The Salvation Army’s Adopt-A-Family program. Assisting a family of five with three girls ages eight, nine, and 10, the branch provided a slew of gifts, including dolls, winter coats, toys, hats, scarves, mittens, and other personal items. The office also provided the family with a considerable grocery store gift card for holiday meals, while contributing five additional gift cards for other families in need.

In East Greenwich, members of the RPL office were generous enough to lend their assistance to a young mother (age 18) and her one-year-old son, Anthony. The branch donated several items to the family, including a car seat, clothes, stuffed animals, grocery store gift cards, and more.

The staff at the Narragansett office got into the spirit by adopting a family through the Family Services of Rhode Island, helping to provide gifts of toys, clothes, and other items. The staff also made a generous monetary contribution to the Jonnycake Center of Peacedale to assist in the organization’s mission of improving the quality of life for individuals and families in need.
