PROVIDENCE, R.I. – April 30, 2013 – (RealEstateRama) — Residential Properties Ltd. Sales Associate, Sandy Soares was awarded the Paul Harris Fellowship by The Rotary Club of Cumberland-Lincoln during a ceremony held at Twin River Event Center this past Sunday.

Soares was one of only 50 Community Volunteers at the event to be honored with the fellowship, which is awarded for devoted “Service Above Self” performed throughout the years.

The fellowship is named after Rotary International’s founder, Paul Harris. Harris originally founded Rotary International in 1905 in the city of Chicago. Today, the Club boasts over l.2 million members with 34,430 clubs in 133 countries around the world. The mission of the Rotary Club is to enable its members to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through the improvement of health, the support of education, and the alleviation of poverty.

Soares embodies this mission with her continuous selfless acts and contributions to improve her local community. She has been involved with Adopt-A-Family, Inc. of Woonsocket since 1990, and was recently appointed Executive Director. This program helps to brighten the holidays for those less fortunate, providing not only toys, but also warm winter clothing and coats to children and families in need. This past December, Soares and the organization helped provide presents to over 1,000 families and nearly 2,100 children. In just one week, they collected thousands of bags of gifts, as well as roughly 500 bicycles, from donors across the country.

“Although this honor and fellowship was given to me, it’s also about the members of the Board of Directors, many have worked with me over all these years,” exclaims Soares. “These people have become my family, and I want to share it with them and thank them for their dedication, too.”
