Beach Openings and Closings
The Department of Health recommends the closure of Goddard Memorial State Park Beach in Warwick and Warren Town Beach in Warren to swimming due to high bacteria counts. Officials will continue to monitor the water quality and recommend re-opening when the areas are safe for swimming. Water quality analysis is conducted by the State Health laboratory or a state certified laboratory.
ORA Releases its State 5% Hotel Tax Report for May 2015
The Office of Revenue Analysis released its report on the state 5% hotel tax. The report looks at the collection and disbursement of the state's 5% hotel tax which is levied on the rental of lodging for less than 30 consecutive days at the state's hotels, motels and bed and breakfasts
DEM Monitoring Fish Kill in the Seekonk and Providence Rivers
Scientists from the Department of Environmental Management are monitoring a large fish kill of adult menhaden in the Seekonk and Providence Rivers. Based on field observations and water quality measurements, the ongoing incident is being caused by low oxygen levels in the bottom waters.

Rhode Island Housing Awards $500,000 to RI LISC for Early-Stage Investment
Rhode Island Housing today announced that the agency has approved a $500,000 grant to the Rhode Island Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) for its Recoverable Grant Fund. The Recoverable Grant Fund is a revolving loan fund available to community development corporations (CDCs) for financing early predevelopment expenses. LISC has financed early-stage expenses for thousands of affordable homes since the program’s inception.
Cicilline Introduces Equality Act to Prohibit Discrimination Against LGBT Community
